Socializing the Enterprise: Breaking Down Operational Barriers to Success

IDC finds that traditional corporate culture remains the largest barrier to successful social media initiatives today. Social strategy encourages an environment where decision-making is distributed, all participants have voice, and employees and/or customers feel they can initiate change. This model challenges, if not disrupts, the hierarchical management model of so many organizations. A good percentage of companies that pilot or deploy community projects will abandon them due to insufficient investment of resources, governance, user support, or integration into core business processes. In this presentation, IDC research analyst Caroline Dangson will present the fragmented state of social media adoption among enterprises today and the different operational challenges organizations face to effectively deploy and manage social media initiatives. Ms. Dangson will suggest best practices to combat these challenges in order to realize the full value of socializing your business.
